Bisotun Cemetery

The cemetery is located near of couple of tourist sites, including a carving of Hercules leftover from Alexander's armies. The day we passed was a holiday and many people were out tending the graves of soldiers who had died in the Iran-Iraq war back in the 1980s. Roads and buildings throughout the country are dotted with billboards and signs honoring the 'martyrs' who fell during that war.

The mountain pass here has been used to invade Persia for millennia - Greeks, Arabs, etc. If the U.S. were to attack part of that force would most likely use it as well - rolling down the highway pictured here.
